If our eating yabbies are low or out of stock below please check back every Friday at 12pm (AEST) when 2 to 15kg are added (limited stock in the winter months as yabbies hide in the cold so are harder to capture.)

Our eating yabbies at Narrabri Fish Farm are specially selected by gender and size to ensure that their offspring have a higher growth rate, resulting in a premium product. We breed our yabbies in a natural, low-density environment, which not only minimizes the risk of encroachment but also significantly reduces the likelihood of infectious diseases.

Fed with natural ingredients sourced locally, our yabbies offer a superior, carefree product for human consumption. The tail meat is white, delicate, and tender, while the thin shells are easy to peel, making them a delight to prepare and enjoy. To ensure the highest quality, our yabbies are purged for at least three days, minimizing faecal residue and ensuring a clean and fresh taste.

Yabby Tips:

If you are not cooking your yabbies upon arrival see following a few of our tips to keep them fresh:

  1. Have ice ready for when you receive your eating yabbies, poke 2 small holes in the bottom of the box using a pen. Open the box lid and layer ice over the top of your yabbies, when the ice melts the water will drain through the holes, this prevents your yabbies from drowning. Replenish the ice twice a day until you cook them.
  2. Fill your bathtub with 3cm of cold water and keep your yabbies in the tub until you’re ready to cook them.
